these lyrics were written after meeting a prostitute in the reeperbahn in hamburg, germany in 1985. her life was so alien, harsh and depressing to me, i wrote these words as an attempt to describe the crushing nature of her existence. the chorus line, "she never dreams," illustrates how it looked through my eyes.
